Working with a leading multi-strategy investment manager, with a role sitting directly within a commodities technology team at the intersection of trading and data. The position is closely aligned to front-office workflows, supporting PMs, traders and researchers with live and near real-time data. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building and owning production data systems that feed pricing, trade flow and research processes.
Role
- Design, build and own data pipelines across a range of market and fundamental datasets
- Work directly with traders, PMs and quants to support live data workflows and resolve issues
- Develop and maintain near real-time and batch data systems, including external/vendor data integrations
- Take ownership of production systems, including monitoring, incident triage and ongoing reliability
- Contribute to engineering standards across the team (testing, deployment, data quality)
Tech
- Python, SQL
- AWS (or similar cloud environment)
- Streaming / event-driven systems (Kafka, Kinesis or similar)
- Data platforms such as Snowflake, ClickHouse or similar columnar databases
- Containerised / cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes beneficial)
Profile
- Experience building and running production data pipelines end-to-end
- Exposure to trading, market data or financial markets environments preferred (not essential)
- Comfortable working closely with end users (traders, quants, analysts)
- Strong ownership mindset, with experience supporting live systems
- Not a central platform role - this sits much closer to trading workflows and will suit engineers who prefer working directly with the business on data that drives decisions.
