We're supporting a leading investment bank's Prime Financing business on a desk-embedded hybrid hire. This role sits directly on the trading floor and forms part of a broader build across the bank's core prime desks: Funding, Securities Portfolio Lending (SPL), and Synthetic Prime Brokerage. The intent is to embed strong technical capability directly into the business to improve how key prime processes are run end-to-end.
The role is best thought of as a desk strat / Quant Analyst(Strategist)-style profile, rather than a pure engineering, operations support, or research position.
- Desk-embedded position, working directly for the desk head and closely alongside an existing strat team
- Focus on Python-led automation and data analytics to improve:
- Funding and collateral management workflows
- Trade lifecycle visibility and portfolio analytics
- Funding counterparts and desk stakeholders
- Data and technology teams where required, while remaining desk-owned
This is not a central IT role, not academic AI research, and not an immediate trading seat.
What they're looking for:
- Strong Python developer with experience automating real, production-grade workflows
- Backgrounds that translate well include:
- Quant developers/analysts or front-office tools roles
- Market Operations or Global Markets Data Engineering / Analytics roles, where the individual has built meaningful automation and analytics rather than providing pure operational support
- Governance & controls or trading analytics profiles with genuine technical depth
What this role is not:
- Not a centralised IT or platform engineering position
- Not ML or AI research
- Not a pure market operations support role
- Not a pure trading role (though strong desk performers can build meaningful commercial exposure over time)
