Consultant – Insurance & Actuarial @ Selby Jennings
Our client is a global insurer with a strong reputation for innovation and growth, seeking a Pricing Actuary / Senior Analyst to join their expanding pricing function. The successful candidate will provide strategic pricing support across delegated authority portfolios, collaborating cross-functionally and contributing to underwriting profitability. This is a high-impact, BAU-oriented role with opportunities to engage directly with data, platform development, and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain pricing models using Emblem, Radar, and SAS
- Design predictive analytics and machine learning models (GLMs, GAMs, GBMs, etc.)
- Execute technical pricing analysis and generate stakeholder recommendations
- Oversee rate deployment and monitor performance across the price control cycle
- Contribute to market positioning and competitor analysis strategy
- Collaborate with senior management, acting as a deputy when required
What we are looking for:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Degree-qualified in a numerical discipline
- Solid insurance pricing experience (Household expertise preferred)
- Technical fluency in SAS, R, Python, or MATLAB
- Hands-on experience with pricing software (Emblem, Radar)
- Knowledge of advanced modelling techniques (GLMs, GAMs, ML methods)
- Strong communication skills-able to explain complex concepts clearly
- Proven ability to coach junior talent and manage cross-functional relationships
