We are working with a top global prop trading firm who are looking to hire a hands-on data profile to sit within the Market Data team, focused on improving how market and alternative data is structured, accessed, and used across quant and trading workflows. This role combines data engineering, data management, and applied AI. You will work closely with the Head of Market Data, who owns vendor relationships, sourcing, and commercial agreements across systematic, discretionary, and market-making businesses. This role complements that function by improving how data is actually utilized — building tooling, structure, and visibility around datasets, with a particular focus on applying AI to enhance workflows and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a data inventory / catalogue across market, fundamental, and alternative datasets
- Standardise and integrate datasets across systems in partnership with data engineering teams
- Improve data quality, accessibility, and consistency for quant and trading use cases
- Automate workflows across market data onboarding, processing, and delivery
- Track dataset usage and help measure value / impact across trading teams
- Support data cost transparency and allocation across desks
- Apply AI / LLM tooling to data discovery, tagging, and workflow optimisation
- Work closely with quants, traders, engineering, and market data / procurement teams
Requirements
- 2-6 years’ experience in data engineering, data platform, or market data / data management
- Strong Python and SQL; experience working with APIs and data pipelines
- Exposure to LLMs / AI tooling in a practical setting (not research-focused)
- Understanding of how data is used within trading or quantitative environments
- Strong operational mindset – able to improve processes in a lean, fast-moving environment
Profile
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and commercially aware
- Comfortable working across technical, front office, and business teams
- Motivated by improving how data is used rather than just building infrastructure
This is quite a rare opportunity to have a great impact across a high performing business. If you feel it is a good fit, apply today!
