Our client, a world-leading hedge fund, is seeking a Front Office SRE / Production Support Engineer to join a newly formed team in their London office. This is a high-impact role supporting mission-critical, low-latency trading systems, working directly alongside traders and engineering teams. You will play a key role in maintaining system reliability and performance, while also developing tooling and driving automation to enhance production support capabilities in a fast-paced, front-office environment.
The ideal candidate will come from a top-tier financial institution with strong exposure to front-office trading environments and a deep understanding of highly distributed, latency-sensitive systems. A clear communicator with a strong commercial mindset, you will be comfortable interacting with traders and stakeholders. You will also bring expert-level knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems, strong command-line proficiency, and a solid grasp of networking concepts within applications, enabling you to troubleshoot and optimise complex trading infrastructure effectively.
Responsibilities:- Ensure real-time trading systems remain stable and performant, proactively monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving issues that could impact trading or market connectivity.
- Act as the first line of defence for production incidents, leading live troubleshooting, performing root-cause analysis, and preventing recurrence in a highly distributed, low-latency environment.
- Partner closely with trading, engineering, and infrastructure teams to plan capacity, execute upgrades, and safely migrate applications with zero or minimal disruption.
- Improve system reliability and efficiency through automation, leveraging Python, Bash, and SQL to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Continuously tune and optimise systems and networks, applying deep OS, networking, and performance knowledge to support the demands of a high-frequency trading environment.
- Understandings of supporting around low latency trading systems and trading workflows.
