A boutique, high-performing macro hedge fund is looking to hire a junior data engineer with exposure to AI/LLM tooling to join a lean, hands-on team undergoing a live data and infrastructure buildout. This is a broad, high-ownership role, working directly with investment, risk, and operations teams to support a growing set of data, analytics, and AI-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines across a range of internal and external sources (APIs, FTP, vendor data)
  • Support and develop the firm's Snowflake (Azure) environment following recent rollout
  • Work across legacy systems and new infrastructure, helping improve data quality, reliability, and scalability
  • Partner with stakeholders across trading, risk, operations, and systematic teams on data and tooling needs
  • Contribute to dashboarding and internal analytics tools used by senior stakeholders
  • Support AI/LLM initiatives across the firm from a data and infrastructure perspective (e.g. integrations with internal data systems and LLM tooling)
  • Take ownership of projects that drive automation and efficiency across the business

Profile Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience in a data engineering/data-focused role
  • Strong Python and SQL
  • Experience building or supporting data pipelines (APIs, batch processes, data ingestion)
  • Exposure to cloud environments (ideally Azure or Snowflake)
  • Interest in AI/LLM applications, with a focus on practical implementation rather than model development
  • Comfortable working in an unstructured, evolving environment with high visibility
  • Proactive, hands-on, and able to work across a wide range of problems
