We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director to join our client's Investment Banking team in London, focusing on the Consumer & Retail sector. This role offers exposure to high‑profile, cross‑border transactions within an established advisory platform, with a strong track record across food & beverage, retail, e-commerce, and consumer brands.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of M&A, minority investments, and capital‑raising transactions across the Consumer & Retail sector, spanning categories such as food & beverage, retail, e-commerce, and consumer brands.
- Take primary responsibility for managing transaction processes, including overseeing due diligence, coordinating advisors, and acting as a key point of contact for clients, investors, and counterparties.
- Develop and review detailed financial models and valuation analyses, including DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and LBO analysis where relevant.
- Drive the preparation and delivery of high‑quality client materials, including pitch books, information memoranda, and management presentations, ensuring clarity and strategic insight.
- Contribute actively to origination efforts by identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and generating differentiated strategic ideas across core and emerging subsectors.
- Maintain strong relationships with corporates, private equity sponsors, and other financial investors active in the Consumer & Retail space.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, overseeing Analysts and Associates to ensure high standards of output and effective team development.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape sector strategy and support broader franchise growth in London and across Europe.
Requirements
- Experience: 6-10+ years of investment banking or financial advisory experience, with significant exposure to Consumer & Retail transactions.
- Technical Skills: Strong financial modelling and valuation expertise, with the ability to review and guide complex analyses across a range of transaction types.
- Sector Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of Consumer & Retail subsectors, including retail, e-commerce, and branded consumer products, with an understanding of evolving trends such as digitalisation and shifting consumer behaviour.
- Execution Leadership: Proven track record of leading transactions and managing multiple workstreams effectively under tight deadlines.
- Client Management: Strong experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including corporate executives, founders, and private equity investors.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Commercial Judgement: Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to form strategic insights and recommendations.
- International Exposure: Experience working on cross‑border transactions and coordinating with international teams is highly advantageous.
