Our client, a leading international financial institution is seeking an Associate Director-level EM FX Forwards Trader to join its London-based Emerging Markets trading team.
This role offers the opportunity to manage risk, provide liquidity to institutional clients, and contribute to the growth of a well-established EM FX franchise.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and risk an EM FX forwards book across a broad range of emerging market currencies.
- Price and execute client transactions while delivering competitive liquidity and market insight.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Sales, Structuring, Research, and other trading desks globally.
- Monitor market developments, economic releases, and geopolitical events impacting EM currencies.
- Optimise risk‑adjusted returns through effective position management and hedging strategies.
- Identify trading opportunities across spot, forwards, NDFs, and related FX products.
- Support the continued development of trading infrastructure, workflows, and electronic execution capabilities.
- Ensure all trading activity adheres to internal risk limits, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the broader development of the trading platform.
Requirements
- Proven experience trading
EM FX forwards and/or NDFs within a bank, broker‑dealer, or institutional trading environment.
- Strong understanding of EM currency markets, macroeconomic drivers, and cross-border capital flows.
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk and generate P&L within a disciplined risk framework.
- Experience covering a broad range of CEEMEA, LATAM, and/or Asian emerging market currencies.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in trading systems and market analytics tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with Sales and institutional clients.
- Sound understanding of market structure, liquidity dynamics, and regulatory requirements within FX markets.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Preferred Experience
- Experience trading across multiple EM regions.
- Familiarity with electronic trading platforms and systematic execution tools.
- Programming or data analysis skills (Python, SQL, VBA, or similar) would be advantageous.
