Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer (GCP / Kubernetes)

Our client is an exceptional, high-growth digital asset firm renowned for building modern, business-critical platforms that operate at scale. As they continue to invest heavily in cloud infrastructure and engineering excellence, they are seeking a Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer to play a pivotal role in the evolution of their cloud ecosystem. This is far more than a traditional DevOps Engineer position. It's an opportunity for a senior DevOps Engineer to shape architecture, influence engineering standards, drive automation initiatives, and own key platform decisions within a highly collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

They are looking for a DevOps Engineer who thrives on ownership, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and wants to be trusted to make a real impact. The ideal DevOps Engineer will combine strong technical depth with a proactive, can-do mindset, balancing platform engineering, automation, reliability, and operational excellence. This role would suit a DevOps Engineer who enjoys working across the full infrastructure lifecycle, partnering closely with developers, and leaving systems, processes, and teams in a better place than they found them. For an ambitious DevOps Engineer, this offers the chance to join a high-calibre team where your ideas, influence, and technical expertise will genuinely shape the future of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimise scalable, secure cloud infrastructure across GCP and Kubernetes environments.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks that improve reliability and developer productivity.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across cloud, networking, Kubernetes, and application layers, driving long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
  • Enhance platform observability, security, resilience, and operational maturity through monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner closely with software engineers and stakeholders to shape platform strategy, improve delivery processes, and introduce new technologies.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on cloud experience across GCP, AWS, or Azure, with expertise designing and operating production-scale infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code, and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent understanding of Linux, containers, networking, DNS, load balancing, IAM, and distributed systems.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills using Python, Bash, Go, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting and improving highly available production environments, including incident response and platform reliability.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a passion for solving problems, improving platforms, and driving engineering best practices.
