SEL Commercials Ltd is a small business based in Hailsham. We have recently moved to larger premises which has enabled us to expand our business. The new workshop is purpose built with an inspection pit and brake testing equipment so we can now provide roller brake tests to our customers. We are affiliated with Top Truck which is a brand of independent commercial vehicle workshops across the UK. As part of this group we are privileged to access dedicated training to support career progression and development to anyone joining our team.
We are seeking a skilled HGV and/or PSV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and/or passenger service vehicles (PSVs) to ensure they operate efficiently and safely and comply with DVSA standards. As an HGV and/or PSV Technician, you will utilize your expertise in mechanical and electrical systems to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance tasks on a variety of vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections on HGVs and/or PSVs.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HGVs and/or PSVs and perform necessary repairs.
- Perform welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks as needed for vehicle repairs.
- Carry out heavy lifting tasks as required.
- Prepare and present HGVs and/or PSVs for MOT.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns professionally.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an HGV and/or PSV Technician or similar role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicles efficiently.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to dig into complex technical issues and find effective solutions.
- Experience in welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques for vehicle repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
- City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs.
- Irtec trained or willingness to complete training as required.
- HGV and/or PSV licence.
- Familiarity with forklift operation and maintenance is a plus.
