Job Description
Job role:
Responsible for general daily support of the Government, Space & Defense Department. Supervises the compliance, business development and operational affairs of the Government Department and is responsible for the achievement of budgetary goals within the approved timeline as well as efficient resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships across global client accounts, acting as the primary liaison to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment with international business objectives
- Coordinate and oversee account performance across multiple geographies, managing global KPIs, forecasting, and issue resolution while ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements
- Collaborate with international teams and partners to design and implement solutions that address complex, cross-border logistics challenges, while demonstrating cultural awareness and adaptability to strengthen global partnerships
- Support GSD operations team on commercial acumen and compliance
- Aid and coordinate commercial responses to clients or prospects, inclusive of solution builds if required for submissions
- Vet inbound RFI & RFQ, inclusive of compliance
- Review and set up critical infrastructure that supports growth of the division
- Assure the cost-effective handling of the Government Department’s products and services
- Direct employees in the hands-on operation of the company’s operations functions
- Ensure that the company’s capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for performance, costs, quality and responsiveness
- Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on costs and margins
- Establish and/or adopt operational processes to ensure business goals and compliance directives are effectively implemented within the Government Services team
- Develop operational and administrative measures to ensure: Cohesive team-orientated work groups are established and working effectively toward organizational goals; All staff follow and contribute to organizational compliance and quality programs and policies; Effective communication is achieved at all levels of the organization
- Perform internal quality audits as required
- Address all non-conforming issues as they occur
- Conduct a Management Review of the Quality System
- Develop & prepare organizations for ISO audits
- Prepare organizations for accreditations as an example FSC & SECTION 5 applications
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or management
- Outside of the core global accounts to maintain, expectation to backfill with new logos within the vertical
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- High level of confidentiality
- GCSE levels A-C
- A level or equivalent
- General Freight Forwarding (Import/Export) experience
- Basic Microsoft Work/Excel experience
- Ability to work well within a Team
- Flexible, show a willingness to learn and develop new skills and have the ability to work under pressure
- A good understanding of customs entries for Imports or Exports
- Ability to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently and develop realistic action plans
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills across different cultural and regulatory landscapes
- Proficiency in global ERP/TMS systems and data analytics tools for performance tracking
- Strong organizational skills
- Good supervisory / leadership skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Operations Supervisor experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal in English, other languages are a bonus
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
