Our client, a globally recognised Fortune 100 engineering and manufacturing organisation, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its advanced Test Facilities Engineering team in Peterborough. This is an exciting opportunity to support New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, designing bespoke test rigs, mechanical systems, rigging arrangements and facility upgrades that enable the development of future powertrain technologies. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will play a key role in delivering mechanical design solutions that support engine testing, product development and future facility capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies and test equipment using Creo CAD.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Design rigging systems and mechanical solutions for test environments.
- Support facility modifications and engineering upgrades.
- Complete engineering calculations and technical analysis.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical design experience within an engineering environment.
- Strong Creo CAD and Teamcenter experience.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Desirable
- Engine test, test facilities or development environment experience.
- Automotive, aerospace, powertrain or off‑highway industry background.
- Knowledge of diesel engines and FMEA.
