Purchasing Assistant Desford LE9 (Onsite role) Initial 12 month contract – likely to extend for the right Person!

Hours: 37.5 a week (typical work patterns are Mon – Fri: 07:00-15:00 /07.30–15.30 /08:00-16:00) Up to £18.75 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £25.66

We’re looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join our globally renowned client’s Team in Desford.

This is a critical role supporting the day-to-day effectiveness of the Procurement department which demands exceptional attention to detail, energy, expertise, and dedication.

As an Associate Procurement Professional, you will provide comprehensive support to the facility's Purchasing function, managing requisitions, raising orders, and collaborating with Suppliers along with internal departments to address and resolve issues.

What will the Purchasing Assistant do?

  • Generate and manage purchase orders to fulfil business requirements
  • Update and maintain purchasing systems with accurate and up-to-date pricing details
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payment processing
  • Oversee the delivery of materials to support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
  • Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers
  • Perform analytical and administrative tasks to support purchasing-related strategic initiatives and provide accurate data to assist Buyers.
  • Work closely with other teams to understand and meet customer requirements
  • Extract data from internal systems and generate various reports for operational support
  • Ensure continuous compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audit assessments as needed

What skills and experience does the Purchasing Assistant need?

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a purchasing/procurement administration environment
  • Good understanding of the purchasing process, including supplier selection and onboarding, Request for Quotation (RFQ), and receipt of goods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills paired with exceptional attention to detail
  • Skilled in gathering and analysing data to support strategic business decisions and align with organizational objectives
  • Ability to follow compliance-driven processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & ERP Systems.
  • Advanced Excel (create pivot tables, vlookups)
  • Desirable experience: SAP and Power BI
