Mechanical Design Engineer in Clevedon

Mechanical Design Engineer North Somerset – Hybrid Salary: Dependant on Experience We're recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business that designs and manufactures specialist electro-mechanical products for industrial applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks expertise to join a collaborative engineering team and contribute to the development of innovative products from concept through to manufacture. The Role You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs), working closely with Engineering, Production, Purchasing and Sales teams to deliver robust, cost-effective design solutions. Key Responsibilities * Create and maintain 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks * Develop assemblies, sub-assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs) * Design sheet metal and electro-mechanical products for manufacture * Support product testing, validation and continuous improvement activities * Maintain engineering documentation, drawing registers and version control * Work with suppliers and internal teams to support product and cost improvements * Ensure designs comply with relevant quality and industry standards About You Essential: * Minimum 5 years' industrial design experience * Strong SolidWorks experience (essential) * Experience producing 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings * Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and mechanical assemblies * Experience creating and managing BOMs Desirable: * AutoCAD, EPLAN or ERP system experience * Electro-mechanical product design experience * Knowledge of EMC requirements and AC/DC systems * Experience within switchgear, control panels, power distribution or related industries Company Benefits: Career development opportunities, enhanced 12% pension benefits (5% employee and 7% employer) Partner Profit Share, Death in Service insurance, Employment referral scheme, Free onsite parking, Cycle to Work Scheme, Tech Scheme, Company events, Frequent wellbeing activities, Mental Health First Aiders on site, Regular charity work with Children’s Hospice Southwest, Cashback health plan - including private GP service, Employee Assistance Programme and shopping discounts!
