37.5 hours a week: 08:00-16:00 Mon-Fri

Up to GBP20.00 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to GBP27.39

We re looking for an Indirect Category Buyer for our client s site in Desford; to use their procurement expertise to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services, for a globally renowned Fortune 100 off highway machinery manufacturer. What will the Category Buyer (Indirect) do?

  • Indirect purchasing – one day you could be making purchases for the canteen renovation, the next you might be ordering paint. The work is varied; it s a great opportunity to learn and have exposure and independence in the role.
  • Support execution of category strategy for Tailored Categories and Develop and manage suppliers performance (QCLDM), support OPACC improvement agenda (OIA).
  • Manage policies, agreements, source catalogues, and special purchasing programs.
  • Recognise the potential for cost decreases, inventory reductions and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
  • Act as the liaison between the organization and the supplier to communicate information explicitly, while considering production demands and suppliers\’ conditions.

What skills and experience will the Category Buyer (Indirect) need?

Essential:

  • 2 years minimum experience as an Indirect Buyer
  • Negotiation skills; used to working with suppliers to manage supply chain – experience with contracts and negotiations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, positive outlook for a win/win resolution
  • Keen and enthusiastic – personality will go a long way in this instance!
  • Confident individual who can work from own initiative. Strategic thinker who also works towards teams objectives. Ability to prioritise work in a dynamic environment
  • Strong Excel skills. Used to using Microsoft Office, Visio & purchasing systems
  • Microsoft Office: in particular, Teams, Outlook, Excel (Vlookup/Formulas), PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • MCIPS qualified or Power BI knowledge would be an advantage
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and QCLDM
  • Manufacturing or engineering industry background
