We are recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer to join a busy aerospace engineering manufacturing company, you will be a member of the business’s Senior Leadership Team also with a dotted line reporting to the Group Quality Management Systems Manager. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Quality Engineer are to support the business in Quality Assurance activities to ensure compliance with AS9100 and Customer Quality Requirements.

You will support the Group Quality Management Systems Manager who is responsible for the QMS and customer/external audits. You’ll also manage the Quality Team and all activity performed by them, specifically in the production of control plans, FAIRs and internal NC Process.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Maintain and improve the QMS and lead an internal team of Quality Engineers
  • Support NPI by developing and approving inspection plans, control plans, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in line with AS9102
  • Support APQP + PPAP activities; approving supplier PPAP submissions + monitor ongoing compliance
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturability and quality risks
  • Lead root cause analysis (using 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams) + drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Manage supplier quality performance/conduct audits + support supplier development/corrective actions
  • Maintain quality documentation, procedures, records and prepare reports for management review
  • Ensure traceability and configuration control of aerospace components
  • Monitor KPIs such as scrap, rework, and yield

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrable experience in aerospace manufacturing in a Quality Assurance role
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality standards – this is key!
  • Experience and understanding of engineering drawings + inspection techniques and tools (CMM, gauges, etc.)
  • Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving + knowledge of NADCAP, APQP and PPAP processes
  • Experience with customer requirements from major aerospace OEMs
