Overview
We're looking for a Retail Development Consultant – Engineering to join our client's team in Desford.
They are an industry leader and world‑renowned Fortune 100 brand that manufactures off‑highway machinery at their Desford site.
You will lead initiatives to increase revenue and growth for the construction industries machine business, meeting critical sales and marketing targets through dealer retail transformation.
To achieve this growth, you will work closely with our client's dealers to improve retail marketing and sales capabilities, optimise the retail customer experience, and increase productivity and efficiencies while reducing distribution costs.
Responsibilities
- Manage dealer retail business transformation and retail journey steps, focused on physical proximity and digital channels to reach potential retail customers.
- Manage assigned dealer growth plan development, alignment, and execution, including budget aimed at expanding retail sales of prime products through transformation.
- Advise dealers on retail marketing, sales and customer‑related strategies, systems, and processes.
- Assist dealers to identify performance gap solutions.
- Advise on customer experience issues and improvement measures (e. g. ways to enhance market coverage and customer experience through training, technology‑enabled and bundled solutions).
- Territory: covers 10 dealers in the Europe, Africa, and Middle East region.
- Travel: circa 30% of the time.
Qualifications
- 5 years' minimum experience in a similar role – someone who can think outside the box with a positive attitude to complete the work and grow the business in line with strategic goals.
- Experience in sales planning, dealer development, and project management.
- Experience in B2B and customer‑facing roles; experience consulting with dealers or distributors.
- Experience in B2B financial management, understanding profitability drivers and tactics for cost control.
- Ability to translate challenging goals into clear action plans that deliver results.
- Strong negotiation skills: ability to influence and persuade as well as build strong relationships.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative, ability to work autonomously, positive attitude.
- Excellent listening, communication, and presentation skills.
- Works effectively in teams, making the team they are part of stronger.
- Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel (must be able to create pivot tables).
- Desirable: Off‑highway/automotive dealership background preferred; experience working in a dealer distribution model.
