SEIMAF UK is seeking an enthusiastic Civil CAD Designer with a drive to work with leading clients within the Nuclear Defence industry.

JOB POSITION: RC Detailer

LOCATION: Bristol – United Kingdom

KEY INFORMATION:

  • 2-10 years RC detailing experience,
  • Conversant with UK detailing codes,
  • Experienced in the use of TEKLA & Navisworks, with a good working knowledge of clash detection,
  • Technical English and 3D computer skills.

Additional information: This role will require obtaining a BPSS level security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.

Managed by a Lead Engineer, the RC Detailer will be in charge of the Stage 2 Checks (Detailing compliance) of the 3D models for RC structures.

The RC Detailer carries out inspections of the RVT Revit models by systematically isolating individual areas or layers of rebar and checking the following:

  • Rebar complies with project/code standards for the arrangement, lapping, and development of bars,
  • General compliance with the project Detailing Manual,
  • Tolerances have been applied to closed bars between concrete faces,
  • Any Contractor’s requirements have been included,
  • Location of construction joints,
  • Rebar arrangement is buildable,
  • Couplers/terminators are correctly connected,
  • Revit parameters have been correctly assigned to rebars for bending and scheduling,
  • Correct use of project Revit families (rebar properties, bar shapes, couplers etc),
  • Rebar bending geometry complies with project standards by using CADS-RC3D auditing tools.

EXPERTISE: All comments from the Stage 2 checks are discussed with the designer, and then a combined list of comments is passed back to the RC Detailers for review/actioning.

  • Working on 3D BIM rebar modelling in TEKLA with help of BIM coordinator and engineer or chief draftsman
  • Contribution works on updating 3D rebar modelling or updating 2D drawings to response to Field Information requests and changes on released design back-office
  • Coordinate with other draftsmen or 3D TEKLA modeller regarding interface when working in the sharing model

Qualifications:

When the detailing inspection of the Revit model is complete, the NWD Navisworks model undergoes a rebar clash detection test. Project rule sets have been developed to check for the following clash scenarios:

  • Rebar vs rebar;
  • Rebar vs concrete surface;
  • Rebar vs cast-in fixings;
  • Coupler vs concrete surface;
  • Duplicated rebars;
