We focus on design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommissioning, and dismantling also covering logistics and documentation.

The Electrical System Engineer will be responsible for the integration of the Emergency and Ultimate Diesel Generator (EDG/UDG) electrical systems and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems into the overall HPC design. As the Electrical System Engineer (Emergency/Ultimate Diesel Generators), you will undertake the following activities:

  • Produce, review and update the system documentation for the control logic design, mechanical and thermo-hydraulic design, operator instructions, human machine interface, safety and environmental, as well as periodic testing in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes, and tools.
  • Ensure consistency with Diesel Supplier design on all functional interfaces of the power plant design: mechanical, Instrumentation and Control (I&C), electrical and layout.
  • Perform analysis for defining the I&C functional requirements of the system and production of the I&C logic:
  • Writing of the Instrumentation & Control Functional Requirements
  • Writing of Detailed Functional Diagram (DFD)
  • Writing of FTP (Functional Test Platform procedure) specifications
  • Analysis of the FTP results
  • Writing of P5 text (I&C logic description)
  • Writing of P6.x (alarm sheets, operating images, and operating modes)
  • Interface consistency check with diesel supplier design
  • Ensure supplier electrical and mechanical design is consistent with requirements.
  • Ensure update of internal component databases consistently with supplier design.
  • Analyse and verify input data, requirements, and lessons learned from other stations.
  • Engage proactively with all stakeholders around the system in my Client to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements set by all disciplines (layout, civil, hazard, nuclear safety, environment, configuration management, procurement…).
  • Contribute to topics around good practices, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality.
  • Participate in experience sharing activities within the discipline.
  • Contribute to the review process of supplier deliverables, for the deliverables related to system engineering: e.g. list of the classified components, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), wiring diagrams, and consumers lists.
  • Manage modifications related to the system including:
    • Managing requests for modification to system(s) issued by various external parties by producing specifications and following the engineering cycle (I&C and/or mechanical design change specifications).
    • Analyse and verify the applicability of these modifications and challenge them as appropriate.
    • Develop technical solutions and present them to the client to help resolve technical issues (techno-economic optimisations approach).
    • Utilise the electronic Engineering Change Management tool.
    • Liaise with other stakeholders through participation at kick-off meetings and gate reviews relevant to the system.
  • Contribute to topics around good practices, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality.
  • Qualifications:

    • Electrical/Systems/Process (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
    • 3-5 years’ experience of I&C and/or process engineering.
    • Relevant experience in the nuclear industry, or other highly regulated industry (e.g. oil and gas, aviation…).
    • Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high-quality documents and respect deadlines whilst balancing priorities and pressures.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally, in English.
    • Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France, and Germany.
    • Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project.
    • Continuously looking for opportunities to improve quality of engineering studies and the subsequent documentation produced.

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of diesel generator electrical systems.
    • Experience of working on an operating plant or on an industrial site.
    • Ability to read and/or write technical documents in French.
