Raytheon UK is looking for a Technical Support & Sustainment Engineer in Malvern, Worcestershire, to support complex IT systems used in defense-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and sustainment for deployed systems, ensuring reliable performance in line with company processes, procedures, and quality standards such as AS9100.
- Support programs during the build phase, including hardware assembly, software installation, and system configuration.
- Plan and conduct testing (Integration Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing, System Acceptance Testing) on newly built and upgraded systems.
- Offer office‑based technical support to customers via phone and email, with occasional out‑of‑hours support as arranged.
- Travel within the UK and overseas to deliver, commission, upgrade, diagnose, and resolve issues on systems originally built in Malvern.
- Work across a broad technology stack: Microsoft products, Linux distributions, Active Directory, certificates, networking, storage solutions, and virtualisation.
- Maintain locally held replicas of customer systems for troubleshooting, upgrade testing, and issue resolution.
- Demonstrate software and systems to internal and external customers and contribute to continuous improvement and lean activities.
- What You Will Learn
- Deep practical experience with Microsoft and Linux platforms, networking, storage, virtualisation, Active Directory, and certificate management.
- The full lifecycle of complex, secure, multi‑server systems from build to sustainment.
- Exposure to UK and international customer environments and operational support.
- Systems testing, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis on live and replicated customer systems.
- Communication and stakeholder management skills through regular engagement with teams and customers.
Qualifications
- Experience in IT systems, system administration, technical support, or a similar technical environment.
- Familiarity with setting up, configuring, and maintaining multi‑server and client systems.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft technologies, Linux systems, and infrastructure concepts such as networking, storage, and virtualisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and overseas and occasionally provide out‑of‑hours support.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the relevant UK security clearance required for the role, SC at a minimum.
- Nice to have
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience working in defense, aerospace, or another regulated, mission‑critical environment.
- Experience supporting customer‑facing systems and providing remote technical support.
- Familiarity with formal test stages such as Integration Testing, FAT, and SAT.
- Experience participating in technical reviews, Engineering Review Boards, or Design Reviews.
- A full UK driving licence.
