  • Position Summary
  • Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Visual Computing Group (VCG)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve core generative models for graphics and video processing for a variety of applications, including live video streaming and game rendering.
  • Research and prototype new methods for graphics or video enhancement, and design data generation pipelines from generative models.
  • Collaborate with team members on drafting publications and patent submissions.
  • Participate in core R&D work with other teams within Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Qualifications

  • Ph D or MSc in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent skills evidenced by work experience.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable research experience in industry or academia.
  • Strong background in Tensor Flow or Py Torch, Python, and libraries related to computer vision or graphics (minimum 3 years of experience for an ML engineer, 5 years for a Senior ML engineer).
  • Evidence of at least one research publication in a top‑tier conference such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, Neur IPS, ICML, ICLR, or equivalent.
  • Solid background in neural network architectures, including advanced loss functions, convolutional, recurrent, transformer‑based, diffusion‑based, or other architectures; experience training, validating, and evaluating models on large datasets.
  • Desired qualifications include publications in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Image Processing or IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology; theoretical understanding of the graphics pipeline, including coordinate transformations, PBR materials, rasterization, lighting, and ray tracing.
  • Experience with 3D engines such as Unreal or Unity, especially in generating datasets and extracting G‑buffers and motion vectors.
