About the Advanced Technology Group
The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is part of Foundational Systems and Experiences Engineering within the Platform Business Group.
Established over 20 years ago as a first‑party game development studio, ATG focuses on helping developers extract maximum performance from Play Station hardware.
The team is responsible for large parts of the graphics software stack used by all Play Station games and collaborates with engineers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Work on Razor GPU, a GPU performance analysis and debugging tool for current and future Play Station platforms.
- Develop GPU Capture and Replay technology to capture, analyze, and reinstate GPU commands, shaders, and resources, enabling independent frame re‑execution.
- Create profiling and debugging features that help developers realize their creative vision and push Play Station hardware to its limits.
- Build internal features for platform software and hardware teams to improve the graphics stack and diagnose low‑level issues.
- Collaborate with game developers and platform engineers to understand needs and build efficient, reliable, and scalable tools.
- Take ownership of features end‑to‑end, from core system development to influencing user‑experience design.
Qualifications
- Strong problem‑solving skills and experience designing and implementing highly reliable, high‑performance systems in C++.
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to reason about complex, interacting systems.
- Experience developing on consoles, particularly using graphics and memory‑management APIs.
- Interest in GPU architecture and low‑level graphics engineering.
- Experience with GPU profiling and debugging tools.
- Eagerness to learn and take responsibility for features from core system to end‑user UX design.
