The Ad Engineering Team builds a highly scalable, real-time advertising platform that underpins Roku’s advertising business.
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Advertising Platform to contribute to this mission.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Work with a skilled engineering team to design, develop, and maintain large-scale, highly performing, real-time applications.
- Own building features, collaborating directly with product teams and other engineering groups.
- Demonstrate excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advocate for best practices across developers, QA, and infrastructure/ops.
- Promote platform innovation and reuse.
- Deliver top-quality software in a timely fashion.
- What We Expect You Have
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale and low-latency distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Java or C++.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, object-oriented programming, multi-threading, and real-time programming.
- Experience with distributed caching, SQL/No SQL, and other databases is a plus.
- Experience with Big Data and cloud services such as AWS or GCP is a plus.
- Experience in the advertising domain is a plus.
- B. S. or M. S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and ownership.
- Critical thinking and practical decision-making abilities.
- Can-do, results-oriented mindset; collaborative and team-oriented.
- Interest in AI literacy and curiosity (Gen AI experience or curiosity is a plus).

- Experience with AI-related initiatives or Gen AI exploration.
- Hybrid Working
Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday.
Fridays are generally flexible for remote work, unless a role or location requires five days in the office.
