Role and Responsibilities

This role is designed for a technically strong cyber security or IT professional who is looking to transition into a Cyber Security Architect position over time.

You will join as a Cyber Security Engineer and develop the skills, experience, and exposure needed to move into architecture, working closely with experienced security architects and engineers.

Prior architecture experience is not required; we value a solid technical foundation, strong curiosity, and critical thinking about system design and security.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
  • Background in roles such as Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or SOC Analyst with strong technical depth.
  • Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation), operating systems (Windows/Linux), identity and access management concepts, and cloud fundamentals.
  • Exposure to security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
  • Understanding of core security principles such as defence in depth, least privilege, and zero‑trust concepts.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure systems to meet HMG security requirements.
  • Experience managing complex technology estates with varying risk profiles.

Desirable

  • Information security related certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSEC, SSCP.
  • Knowledge of HMG security requirements.
