Position

SAP Developer – Remote/Hybrid (occasional travel to Glenrothes and Harlow, UK).

Responsibilities

  • Work with functional and business teams to deliver business systems meeting functional requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with staff and functional users to ensure timely delivery of system changes.
  • Engage directly with functional business users on bug fixes, service requests, and approved changes to existing systems and new applications.
  • Maintain the ongoing availability of SAP systems, driving improved system productivity.
  • Provide system support in response to business needs within published service levels – respond to and resolve break‑fixes and execute preventative maintenance solutions.
  • Provide out‑of‑hours support as agreed with the functional area (e. g., Finance month‑end).
  • Ensure integration between SAP applications and other applications to share data.
  • Carry out business analysis and requirements capture using knowledge of business domain and processes.
  • Perform system analysis, programming, testing and data analysis & design.
  • Implement systems, including training, support, and problem resolution.
  • Develop technical documentation for technologists and end‑users.
  • Respond and resolve break‑fix issues and carry out preventive maintenance.
  • Analyse, design, code, test, implement, document, and support development and enhancements to RSL applications and interfaces.
  • Monitor helpdesk and change control systems for incoming work.
  • Update configuration/call‑management tools and ensure system maps reflect changes to the application portfolio.
  • Work with vendors to deliver requirements and resolve issues.
  • Occasionally visit other RSL sites and customer/partner organisations.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Strong SAP R3 and ABAP programming experience.
  • General knowledge of a wide range of IT technologies and activities, with specific knowledge of one or more technology fields.
  • Experience with formal systems delivery methodologies.
  • Experience delivering and supporting business‑critical application packages within a large organisation.
  • Knowledge and operational experience in a manufacturing and/or defence industry is a plus.
  • Experience with CPS job scheduler (SAP Business Process Automation by Redwood) is desirable.
  • In‑depth knowledge of required language(s), applications, databases, and technologies.
  • Understanding of IT / systems engineering disciplines – requirements management, configuration management, change control, reliability analysis, and quality management.
  • Understanding of basic action planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Team player, capable of leveraging specialist resources to achieve solutions.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Innovative, customer‑focused, flexible, disciplined, organised, and self‑motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines.
