Role & Responsibilities
- Provide contractual and commercial support for bid development, approval and issuance, responding to RFP/ITN and supporting company strategy.
- Identify commercial risks, contribute to overall risk plan and implement mitigation.
- Lead contract negotiations and manage new and existing contracts, including change control and flow‑downs.
- Resolve commercial issues promptly and effectively.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts: forecasting, milestone plans and claim submissions.
- Act as commercial face to customers, day‑to‑day contact and subject‑matter expert.
- Ensure successful contract completion, close‑down and archiving.
- Champion change and improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience;
- Experience reviewing and drafting contractual documents;
- Strong commercial awareness, business principles and governing law;
- Commercial risk management experience;
- Tenacity, flexibility, cross‑functional teamwork;
- Strong communication and relationship building;
- Calm under pressure;
- Self‑motivation;
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
Desirable:
- Previous contracting experience in the Defence sector;
- Accreditation in Commercial and Supply Chain management;
- Eligibility for SC security clearance;
- Basic programme management skills (Risk Management, Programme Gating, Metrics);
- Strong problem‑solving and dispute resolution record;
- Experience with international suppliers/customers;
- Financial management experience;
- Awareness of Data Protection and other relevant legislation;
- Familiarity with business process management tools (IPDS, SAP or similar) and competitive bidding processes.
