Senior Software Engineer – Embedded UI
Focus on developing core features for the Roku platform UI, building high‑performing applications and SDK components for a popular consumer electronics platform.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product development, platform services, and release management teams to contribute extensively to embedded UI development and underlying architecture.
- Integrate third‑party C++ libraries.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve issues within the Roku Platform.
Qualifications
- Relevant software development experience with a proven track record of designing and shipping high‑quality software on an embedded platform.
- Extensive experience with C++ and Embedded Linux or Native Application Development.
- In‑depth understanding of Linux, tools, libraries, and open‑source development.
- Proficiency in AI‑Assisted programming.
- Understanding of API design considerations and trade‑offs.
- Familiarity with tools and libraries such as Boost, Play Ready, ALSA, DIAL.
- Experience with memory management and multithreaded development.
- Experience with Open GL and Direct FB.
- Media / Video knowledge – codecs, media streaming, etc. is a plus.
- Embedded and consumer electronics experience is desirable.
- Ability to accurately estimate software tasks and work to schedule.
- Strong communication skills for describing issues and solutions to varied audiences.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
