While our roots are in NYC, we’re intentionally investing in Belfast and Northern Ireland as a key hub.
This role is fully remote and offers flexibility to work from anywhere within NI.
You will join as a Software Engineer on the Core team of the Order Engineering group.
The Core team owns key parts of Olo’s platform—including baskets, orders, checkout, promotions, capacity management, and the services that power ordering experiences at scale.
You will help shape the future of these systems, guiding technical decisions, improving platform reliability and scalability, mentoring other engineers, and actively contributing hands‑on code.
Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the Core team’s domain and technology stack, and actively seek guidance to grow technical expertise.
- Handle small to medium feature work with support from senior engineers, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
- Write clean, well‑tested code in line with established coding standards and participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with team members to understand feature requirements and implement solutions with guidance.
- Build reliable and maintainable software components, focusing on quality and long‑term sustainability.
- Use version control systems (e. g., Git Hub) to manage code changes and maintain a consistent development workflow.
- Participate in team meetings and sprint ceremonies, such as daily stand‑ups and sprint retrospectives, providing updates and feedback.
- Engage in learning activities, including game days and training sessions, to build familiarity with the company’s tools and processes.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues with guidance, learning to identify and resolve common software bugs.
- Collaborate across teams and stakeholders, demonstrating teamwork skills for larger projects.
- Own the delivery pipeline, ensuring that code quality, testing standards, and deployment practices are continuously optimized.
- Use Claude Code and Git Hub Copilot extensively as part of the daily workflow, and grow skills through hands‑on AI training.
- Participate in on‑call duties as required, with specific responsibilities determined by the assigned team and area of expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 1.5 years of experience in a software engineering role.
- Proficiency in C#/. NET and familiarity with basic programming constructs and design patterns.
- Basic understanding of version control tools (e. g., Git Hub) and source code management workflows.
- Familiarity with unit testing and test‑driven development frameworks such as NUnit or Jest.
- Basic understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, focusing on building reliable components.
- Experience using collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, and Git Hub.
