This role offers a high-exposure, hands-on position for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop broad experience across management accounting, financial control, and commercial analysis. You will be instrumental in the day-to-day delivery of accurate financial information, supporting Group reporting, and helping to maintain the robust financial controls that underpin the UK and Ireland operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Management Accounts & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for UK and Ireland entities, including trial balance reviews, P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow statements.
  • Support the production of the Group consolidated monthly reporting pack, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting timetables.
  • Prepare variance analysis and KPI commentary when needed, explaining performance against budget and forecast.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly cashflow forecasts and monitoring of actual vs. forecast positions.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting and reforecasting processes under the direction of the Finance Director.

2. Financial Control & Accounting

  • Post and review journal entries across the UK and Ireland entities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately evidenced.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis, resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • Assist in ensuring books and records are maintained in line with UK GAAP and Group accounting policies.
  • Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and provide audit-ready workings to the Finance Director and external auditors.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and settlements between UK entities and the wider Mangrove Group.

3. VAT, Tax & Compliance

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of UK and Ireland VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
  • Support compliance with other statutory tax obligations as directed by the Finance Director.
  • Maintain accurate records to support regulatory and audit requirements.

4. Operational Finance

  • Review daily orders and shipments reports to identify financial discrepancies and escalate anomalies.
  • Monitor GMV, stock reports, and margin performance data, investigating variances and supporting corrective action.
  • Oversee and reconcile rebate tracking, FX transactions, and bank guarantees as directed.
  • Assist with credit risk monitoring and escalation of overdue accounts or finance-related customer issues.

5. Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilise the Group’s systems to maintain accurate financial records and extract reporting data.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the finance function.
  • Maintain well-organised, audit-ready documentation and working papers.
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and queries across the UK Group and, where required, other Group regions.

6. Team & Stakeholder Support

  • Work closely with the Finance Director and wider Finance team to ensure seamless delivery of financial reporting and controls.
  • Liaise with operational and commercial teams to provide financial data and analysis that supports decision-making.
  • Act as a dependable point of contact for finance queries from internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified CIMA, ACCA, or ACA (study support considered for the right candidate).
  • 2–3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role; advantageous if within a multi-entity, wholesale, distribution, or product-led business.
  • Solid grounding in double-entry bookkeeping and accounting journal entries.
  • An understanding of core financial consolidation concepts.
  • Demonstrable ability to read, prepare and interpret core financial statements – P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow statement.
  • Experience in management accounts preparation or support, including variance analysis.
  • Knowledge of UK and Ireland VAT rules will be advantageous.
  • ERP or accounting system experience (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of lookups, pivot tables, and financial modelling.

  • Clear communicator, able to present financial information concisely to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, willing to take ownership of tasks and follow through to completion.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative, can-do attitude.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in the renewable energy sector are a plus.
