Reporting to: Lead Software Engineer (eCommerce)

Location: UK Hybrid (typically up to 1 day week in the Central London office)

Remuneration: £55k to £65k (based on level of experience)

The Role

You are an accomplished mid to senior-level Software Engineer (full stack) and strong communicator, with deep expertise in building and scaling complex, composable solutions — ideally with experience developing eCommerce SaaS platforms and leveraging AI and CICD within a collaborative development process.

Main Duties

  • This is a hands-on contributor role, designing, delivering, and supporting software for a complex, scalable, composable eCommerce platform.
  • Developing and integrating APIs, microservices, and third-party solutions to create a seamless customer experience.
  • Ensuring high-quality, maintainable code aligned with engineering best practices.
  • Participating in collaborative code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical workshops.
  • Working closely with Product Management, UX/UI Designers, eCommerce SaaS providers, and DevOps.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand customer-specific workflows, journeys, and technical requirements.
  • Implementing personalisation, catalogue management, pricing engines, and B2B-specific capabilities.
  • Ensuring platform scalability and reliability to support large volumes of data and transactions.
  • Implementing and maintaining high standards for security, data privacy, and compliance across all systems.
  • Leading initiatives for process improvement, performance optimisation, and technical-debt reduction.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to tick every box, but strong candidates will demonstrate many of the following:

  • Extensive capability as a mid to senior level software engineer (full-stack development and testing).
  • Strong capability with Infrastructure As Code such as Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of API-driven development, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and adapt communication styles.
  • A deeply customer-focused and curious mindset.
  • Capability to lead the technical delivery of complex initiatives.
  • Ability to influence team direction, roadmap discussions, and decision-making.
  • Expertise working with our technology stack: TypeScript, Node, Shopify Liquid, Bicep, Azure DevOps and Pipelines.
  • Experience with other modern front-end frameworks and backend technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, serverless functions, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and AI-assisted design/development workflows.
  • Complimentary skills in technical operations, security, user experience, software architecture, or Agile delivery.
  • Knowledge and or experience within the photovoltaic industry.
