We are currently assisting a well-known and market leading Firm who are looking to expand a thriving international arbitration practice with a strong cross‑border client base. Our client would consider either a pre-existing junior Partner or else a senior non-Partner such as Counsel, Legal Director or Senior/Managing Associate who has already started to nurture some clients of their own.

The role centres on acting in complex, high‑value disputes that frequently involve multiple jurisdictions, sensitive commercial issues and fast‑moving strategic considerations. The successful candidate will take a leading role in developing the arbitration offering, shaping its future direction and deepening relationships with an international network of clients, counsel and experts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in developing the international arbitration practice and its future direction.
  • Manage and grow a substantial caseload and guide teams on complex matters.
  • Engage confidently with sophisticated clients and manage matters that may attract public, political or commercial scrutiny.
  • Collaborate with cross‑border clients, counsel, and experts to advance disputes and strategy.

Qualifications and requirements

  • An active caseload or portable client following is required, reflecting seniority and the firm’s growth plans.
  • Proven track record in international arbitration, ideally with experience in commercial, investment or treaty matters.
  • Ability to manage substantial caseloads and to guide teams while engaging with sophisticated clients.
  • Experience in sanctions—whether advisory, compliance or contentious—would be a significant advantage.
  • Experience with sanctions regimes may lead to consideration for an additional leadership title reflecting responsibility for that area of work.
  • UK qualified and currently working in the UK with private practice experience at another leading firm.

Interested parties should be UK Qualified, currently working in the UK and have gained their private practice experience within another leading Firm.
