Segal Placements is a Partner led legal recruitment agency focusing on lateral hires into private practice within London. Our contacts within our client firms are senior lawyers, Heads of Departments, Managing Partners and CEOs.
If you are a Partner and are considering your future and have aspirations of joining a new Firm for whatever reason (current Firm is underperforming or internal issues, concerns about your own performance, difficulties with co-Partners), do NOT start going to market now. The Christmas break is upon us, and as we know from personal experience over many years, lateral Partner hiring processes slow down quite dramatically in the last few weeks of the year as hiring and sponsoring Partners turn their attention to completing client work before the break rather than setting up meetings for potential recruits.
Nevertheless, the Partner lateral hiring market remains bullish, and we currently have mandates to fill over 30 roles at that level at some of the country’s leading law firms, including from leading international and US Firms, National Firms, Regional Firms and strong West End / Mayfair Firms. We have live roles in all of the practice areas listed below, all looking to be filled in Q1 of 2026.
As a lateral Partner, you WILL be required to have some sort of following/client base of your own, although from some not as much as others (varying depending upon the strategic need of the Firm). Candidates in every instance need to be:
- Legal qualified to work in England and Wales
- Currently be working in Private Practice in the UK
