SEGA West Consumer Insights (SWCI) sits within the Business Strategy organization and plays a central role in informing product greenlighting, portfolio decisions, and ongoing product health tracking. SWCI delivers end-to-end mixed-methods consumer research across games, franchises, and live services, supporting critical decisions from early concept through post-launch performance. The team conducts custom primary research (quantitative and qualitative) alongside secondary and syndicated analysis to help teams understand player needs, behaviours, motivations, and trade-offs. Frequent study types include Total Addressable Market (TAM) Surveys, Audience Segmentations, Concept Tests, Playtests, Messaging and Positioning, Pricing Surveys, Discrete Choice Modelling, Brand Lift Surveys, Virtual Diaries, and Product and Brand Health Tracking.

The Manager role is a dual-focused individual contributor and people manager role leading SOE Consumer Insights Team. They are focused on leading complex research initiatives from intake through delivery and act as a trusted research partner and main point of contact for assigned parts of the SEGA portfolio. They are also responsible for managing direct reports, acting as the accountable party for research direction, stakeholder alignment, and insights quality for themselves and their direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop direct reports through coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Own delivery health, prioritisation, and resourcing for their pod/direct reports.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across outputs for their pod/direct reports.
  • Lead complex quantitative and qualitative research projects end-to-end.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define research needs and success criteria.
  • Own research design, documentation, and approach, making sure all stakeholders are aligned on objectives and expected use of data.
  • Own the research delivery process, acting as point for results readouts and action items.
  • Proactively lead the research road mapping and budget planning for assigned parts of the portfolio, making sure stakeholder budgets are aligned with anticipated costs over a period of multiple years.
  • Mentor junior researcher members and review their work for quality.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 6+ years of applied custom research experience.
  • Advanced/Expert with DIY survey platforms like Alchemer or Qualtrics.
  • Advanced/Expert with syndicated tools like GWI, YouGov Profiles, Circana, etc.
  • Advanced/Expert in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced/Expert analysing data in SPSS or similar survey analysis software.
  • Advanced/Expert analytical reasoning and written communication skills.
  • Communication and Presentation skill.
  • Able to provide objective and constructive feedback to direct reports.
  • Bonus: Interest and expert-level knowledge in video games, especially SEGA’s broad portfolio and key competitors.
  • Bilingual Japanese/English is a plus.
