Overview
Merefield School is an all age, 3-19 special school in Ainsdale. We cater for up to 110 students with severe and complex learning needs. We have carefully and meticulously created a curriculum that stimulates and challenges each of our students based on their individual needs and starting points. Our personalised approach and tailored assessment systems ensure that all students make outstanding progress during their time at Merefield School.
The Governors seek to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and highly experienced Teaching Assistant to become part of our successful and hard-working team.
Teaching assistants are employed to work across the whole school and provide support for pupils with a range of learning needs and disabilities. Merefield School has high expectations for all pupils and all staff are required to support every child to be the very best they can be. Applicants should be appropriately qualified and have relevant skills and experience in working with children with severe and complex learning disabilities.
Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
Merefield School is in the process of converting to an academy and will join the Southport Learning Trust. Staff employed by the school prior to this will then be employed by Southport Learning trust. This is planned to take place on 1st October 2025.
