The Ecologist will provide specialist technical advice to local authority customers on ecology, biodiversity, nature conservation, Habitats Regulations Assessments and new statutory and regulatory duties under the Environment Act 2021, including review of planning applications, preparation of policy and project development and implementation.
Responsibilities include support to nature recovery, local site monitoring and biodiversity net gain.
Qualifications:
- Experience in protected species; possession of protected species licences advantageous.
- Experience working with statutory agencies and developers and ability to identify and facilitate environmental solutions.
- Working towards professional membership is helpful.
Working conditions:
- Hybrid working model combining home and office.
- Access to own transport required.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be needed.
