Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for all bereavement related enquiries from funeral directors, clergy, bereaved families and the general public.
  • Ensure that all burial and cremation documents are processed in line with statutory legislation and in a timely manner.
  • Provide further administrative support for the service, covering all aspects of service delivery and customer care for the bereaved and other service users.
  • Undertake the cremation process of deceased persons under the direction of the Bereavement Services Manager, following the codes of practice, ethics and applicable legislation.
  • Deliver a caring, sensitive and high-quality service to the bereaved and members of the public attending the cremation service.
  • Perform all chapel duties and associated work in the crematorium environment to ensure readiness for service provision.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification – Level 2 Funeral Team Member.
  • Apprentices without Level 1 or above English and maths must achieve Level 2 English and maths and pass the relevant test prior to the end-point assessment.

Training & Support:

  • On- and off-the-job training location to be confirmed.
  • Apprenticeship team support extends to the end of a fixed-term contract, including eligibility for redeployment during the last two months.

The post is based at Thornton Crematorium, Thornton Garden of Rest, Lydiate Lane, Thornton, L23 1TP.
