Responsibilities

  • Tackling fly tipping is a key priority for the Council; we have recently doubled the size of the Environmental Enforcement Team and are seeking three additional officers to join the expanding team. We are looking for forward thinking officers, who are able to problem solve, confident in speaking to people and able to carry out investigations.
  • Duties include investigating environmental crime such as fly-tipping and duty of care offences in residential and commercial settings.
  • The post holder will be responsible for gathering evidence, interviewing people, responding to customer concerns and working with other Council Services, partner agencies and neighbouring authorities as part of the role. They will take appropriate action in order to achieve the desired outcome including issuing statutory and fixed penalty notices and undertaking prosecutions.
  • The successful applicants will have a background knowledge of Environmental Legislation; be able to carry out an investigation, effectively communicate with members of the public and manage potentially confrontational situations.
