Senior analyst within the Middle Office who will be involved across the full range of aspects of the team's activities, with an expectation of shaping, focusing and improving the business processes, and responsible for the accurate, independent reporting of daily economic Gross Margin, open financial & physical exposures and attribution/commentary thereof. The role also involves the generation of an accurate monthly IFRS-compliant Gross Margin, full reconciliations versus Economic revaluations, and direct support of the commercial aims of the company through new product/commodity onboarding within the parameters of the DLC.

What Will You Do

  • Independent generation of a T+1 daily economic P&L revaluation, physical & financial exposure reporting and full attribution linking back to underlying market and position changes, within the parameters of the middle office policies and frameworks.
  • Conduct ad-hoc/one-off portfolio analysis for the Front Office or other Support Functions regarding the economic and IFRS valuation impact of new commercial transactions/hedging strategies, and create periodic and ad-hoc Middle Office reports for senior management, acting under delegation where required for the Middle Office Team Lead.
  • Prepare monthly IFRS-compliant portfolio valuations, ensuring full understanding of any variances to the daily Economic P&L, adhering to appropriate accounting frameworks.
  • Identify and prioritise IT-supported initiatives and end-user tactical solutions to improve team efficiencies and reduce operational risk and controls, implementing them with adequate controls and governance.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Teams to provide independent challenge/support and facilitate new business and operational readiness ventures, generating ideas to solve problems while adhering to the DLC framework.
  • Collaborate with other core Risk functions, ensuring alignment on risk treatment, and with Finance / Tax to align month-end IFRS reporting.
  • Regularly review the existing Reporting & Control system in light of changing portfolio and market conditions.
  • Generate and maintain appropriate methodology documentation for all process deliverables.
  • Act as a solid representation of the Middle Office.

What Will You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience within a Middle Office / Risk function in commodities trading, with sound knowledge of Middle Office best practices across the Deal Lifecycle.
  • Exposure to economic valuation principles in Natural Gas, LNG, Power or Oil.
  • Prior direct experience with Non-Linear valuation principles and the Greeks (desired).
  • Excellent communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive self-starter attitude, with a proven record of delivering system and process improvements.
  • Solid understanding of global energy markets and key drivers of price change.
  • Ability to deliver high-calibre work in a timely manner in a fast-growing environment, fostering robust solutions within the allotted timeline.
  • Strong analytical skills for concise reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Coding skills (Python, VBA) are desired but not essential.
