Senior analyst within the Middle Office who will be involved across the full range of aspects of the team’s activities, with an expectation of shaping, focusing and improving the business processes, and responsible for the accurate, independent reporting of daily economic Gross Margin, open financial & physical exposures and attribution/commentary thereof. The role also involves the generation of an accurate monthly IFRS‑compliant Gross Margin, along with full reconciliations versus the Economic revaluations. Additional accountability includes direct support of the commercial aims of the company by designing and delivering new product/commodity onboarding within the parameters of the DLC, provision of ad‑hoc analysis, support, challenge and corroboration with the commercial teams, and proactively identifying and implementing efficiency and control improvement initiatives. The role includes accountability for supporting junior members of the Middle Office team with daily operational challenges and sharing business knowledge.

What Will You Do

  • Independent generation of a T+1 daily economic P&L revaluation, physical & financial exposure reporting and full attribution thereof, linking back to underlying market and position changes, working within the parameters of the Middle Office policies and frameworks.
  • Conduct ad‑hoc/one‑off portfolio analysis on requests from the Front Office or any other support functions regarding the economic and IFRS valuation impact of new commercial transactions/hedging strategies, and create periodic and ad‑hoc Middle Office reports for senior management, acting under delegation when required for the Middle Office Team Lead.
  • Prepare monthly IFRS‑compliant portfolio valuations, ensuring full understanding of any variances to the daily Economic P&L and adhering to the appropriate accounting frameworks.
  • Proactively identify and prioritise IT‑supported initiatives and end‑user tactical solutions to improve team efficiencies and reduce operational risk and controls, implementing sufficient controls and governance around their usage.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Teams, providing independent challenge to and support of commercial functions, and facilitating and supporting new business and operational readiness ventures, generating ideas to solve problems while adhering to the DLC framework.
  • Ensure alignment with other core Risk functions for consistent risk treatment and with Finance/Tax for month‑end IFRS reporting.
  • Regularly review the existing reporting & control system in light of changing portfolio and external market conditions.
  • Generate and maintain appropriate methodology documentation for all process deliverables.
  • Represent the Middle Office solidly.

What Will You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Mandatory experience within a Middle Office/Risk function in commodities trading, coupled with sound knowledge of Middle Office best practices across the deal lifecycle.
  • Mandatory exposure to economic valuation principles in Natural Gas, LNG, Power or Oil.
  • Desired prior direct experience with non‑linear valuation principles and the Greeks.
  • Excellent communication skills, essential for interaction across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive self‑starter attitude, with a proven record of delivering system and process improvements.
  • Solid understanding of the global energy markets and key drivers of price change.
  • Ability to conduct high‑quality deliveries in a timely manner in a fast‑growing environment, fostering feasible yet robust solutions within the given timeline.
  • Solid analytical skills, essential for concise report generation for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Desired but not essential coding skills (Python, VBA).
