SEFE is seeking a Junior Quantitative Analyst to join its Quantitative Development team. This role supports the trading business by contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of quantitative models used across pricing, risk management, and trading analytics. Operating in a fast-evolving commodity trading environment driven by real-time data, automation, and digitalisation, this role offers strong front-office exposure and close collaboration with traders, senior quantitative analysts, and technology teams. Over time, the successful candidate will take on increasing responsibility across a broad range of commodity markets.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Work across Gas, Power, Coal, Emissions, Metals, and Oil, covering both linear products and derivatives ranging from vanilla options to more structured products.
  • Support senior quants and risk takers while developing your technical and commercial understanding of trading activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of quantitative models for pricing, risk analysis, and trading analytics under senior supervision.
  • Enhance and maintain existing analytical libraries and tools, ensuring robustness, performance, and accuracy.
  • Analyse market and historical data to support model calibration, validation, and trading decisions.
  • Contribute to model testing, back-testing, and documentation to ensure transparency and reliability.
  • Work closely with traders, senior quants, and risk teams to translate business needs into quantitative solutions.
  • Participate in quantitative research projects and gradually contribute ideas to trading and option strategies.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a strong quantitative foundation, including probability theory and option pricing concepts.
  • Python programming skills are essential; exposure to C#, Rust, or similar languages is advantageous.
  • Interest in time-series analysis and working with large datasets in a trading or market data environment.
  • Ability to balance model sophistication with computational efficiency and real-world usability.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain quantitative concepts to non-quantitative stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to volatility modelling or numerical methods through coursework, thesis work, or internships is desirable.
