We are looking for a Commercial Operations Analyst to join our Commercial Operations Team in Manchester. In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting and optimising gross margin through detailed invoice validation and data analysis. This is a hands-on role offering real impact across a complex energy business.
What Will You Do
- Conduct analysis and validation of industry invoices.
- Analyse volume data to investigate reasons for under-recoveries and gross margin leakage and liaise with internal departments and external parties to resolve issues.
- Maintain documentation of applicable working processes and keep a full audit trail of all workings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify new/unknown areas of margin leakage and develop controls to analyse and resolve any gaps.
- Lead regular meetings with internal departments to ensure queries are dealt with in an efficient manner.
- Support ongoing business initiatives/projects and liaise with internal departments to ensure needs are met sufficiently.
- Monitor and maintain external collateral processes with a view to optimising funding costs where possible.
- Maintain and develop data stores and scripts in SQL to support all gross margin analytics.
What Will You Bring
- A degree level qualification in a STEM subject, or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates strong analytical capability.
- Previous experience in the UK Power industry (desirable).
- Experience of using data and systems, particularly Microsoft Excel and SQL, to support analysis and decision-making.
- Experience of analysing data, ideally large or complex datasets, and translating findings into clear insights.
- High attention to detail and a structured problem-solving approach.
- Confidence building relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues across different teams.
- A proactive and curious mindset, with the confidence to suggest improvements and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
