We’re seeking a passionate Self Employment Adviser to support individuals across Norfolk and Suffolk to start, sustain, and grow their businesses. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real impact by helping participants overcome barriers and achieve sustainable outcomes. You’ll manage a caseload, providing tailored advice and practical support including business planning, tax understanding, and financial forecasting. Using coaching strategies, you will motivate participants to progress and succeed, delivering both one-to-one and group sessions. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you will maintain accurate records, meet performance targets, and ensure compliance with quality standards. You’ll also support events and initiatives that promote self-employment opportunities.
We’re looking for a proactive, organised individual with strong self-employment knowledge, excellent communication skills, and confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital tools. Flexibility is required, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities
- Progress a caseload of participants to successful outcomes using tailored coaching strategies to support business growth.
- Deliver high-impact training sessions on key business topics (e.g. tax returns, financial planning, asset management).
- Co-produce effective support plans with participants, providing practical guidance to help sustain and develop their businesses.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams and stakeholders to support participant progress and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate participant records and ensure full compliance with quality, safeguarding, and data protection standards.
- Meet individual performance targets, including Quality and Compliance requirements.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong knowledge of self-employment and the challenges individuals face when starting or growing a business.
- Experience delivering practical business advice, coaching, or employability support.
- Ability to motivate and inspire individuals using effective coaching or engagement strategies.
- Good understanding of the employability sector and available local business support services.
- Confident IT user, with experience of Microsoft 365 and digital delivery tools (e.g. Teams).
- Excellent organisational, planning, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
