Are you interested in autonomous systems — and enjoy working in the field as much as working with technology? At sees.ai, we are scaling the use of autonomous aerial systems to inspect critical national infrastructure — delivering complex missions safely, repeatedly, and commercially. This role sits at the centre of those operations. You’ll be planning and delivering real‑world missions, working in environments where conditions change, constraints are real, and the quality of preparation and decision‑making directly impacts outcomes.
We’re looking for people with a strong technical background and interest in autonomous or unmanned systems, who want to apply that experience in a structured operational environment. Applicants must be based in the UK, hold a full UK manual driving licence, and have the unrestricted right to work in the UK.
The Role
This is an operations‑focused role. You will be responsible for planning and delivering autonomous system missions, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Our systems are operated through computer‑based control systems, real‑time dashboards, and autonomous workflows. Success depends on your ability to think clearly, plan effectively, and operate confidently through systems. You’ll split your time between:
- Field deployments across the UK
- Planning, preparation, and analysis at our Chichester base
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating autonomous aerial missions via software‑based control systems
- Planning and coordinating deployments, balancing weather, logistics, and operational constraints
- Managing site logistics including travel, access, accommodation, and contingencies
- Monitoring missions in real time and intervening when required
- Capturing, reviewing, and validating inspection data
- Analysing system outputs, logs, and mission performance
- Acting as the link between field operations and engineering, providing structured feedback
- Maintaining high safety and operational standards in all environments
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of how missions are planned and executed
Who This Role Is Suited To
This role suits people who combine technical capability with operational discipline. You’re likely to have:
- A technical background, developed through academic study, technical training, or professional experience
- Experience working with technical systems, equipment, or data in real‑world environments
- An interest in autonomous or unmanned systems (e.g. aerial systems, robotics, ROVs, or similar domains)
What matters most is how you approach your work. You:
- Think systematically and plan ahead, rather than reacting on the fly
- Exercise good judgement, especially when conditions are uncertain
- Take a structured, detail‑oriented approach to execution
- Are comfortable taking responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks
- Stay calm and focused when operating through systems, data, and real‑world constraints
- Enjoy working in the field and understanding how systems operate in practice
Direct experience with drones is beneficial, but not required. A strong technical foundation and interest in autonomous systems are more important.
Essential Requirements
- Based in the UK
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Unrestricted right to work in the UK
- Willingness to travel frequently across the UK
- Experience working with technical systems, equipment, or data
- Strong technology literacy, developed through a degree, relevant work experience, or practical technical exposure
- Confidence working independently in field‑based roles
- Clear communication skills
Formal UAS flight certifications are helpful, but are not required at application stage.
Why Join sees.ai
- Work on live, real‑world operations, not simulations
- Be part of a team deploying advanced autonomous systems at scale
- Operate at the intersection of technology and real‑world execution
- Apply your technical experience in nationally significant operations
- Develop both your operational and technical capability
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Fantastic facilities with gym, pool, tennis courts, nursery, cafe
