The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
We are looking for a flexible general all-rounder for this role. General maintenance tasks include:
- Basic plumbing (leaks, taps, toilets)
- Minor electrical work (lighting, switches, sockets where permitted)
- Carpentry (doors, locks, furniture, fixtures)
- Painting and decorating touch-ups
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Reception and Housekeeping
- Carry out preventative maintenance checks as scheduled
- Maintain guest bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, kitchens and public areas to the company’s standards
- Assist with room turnarounds where maintenance issues are identified
- Ensure defects that could impact guest safety or comfort are addressed quickly
- Carry out regular safety checks (fire doors, emergency lighting, trip hazards)
- Report serious faults or hazards immediately
- Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and stored correctly
- Comply with the health & safety and fire safety procedures
- Maintain outdoor areas including car parks, pathways, signage, and lighting
- Assist with supervising contractors when required
- Monitor and report low stock of maintenance supplies
- Keep maintenance areas clean and organised
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a handyman or maintenance role (hotel or similar environment preferred)
- Good working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Practical, problem-solving approach
- Friendly and professional manner when dealing with guests and staff
- Reliable and flexible
- Calm under pressure
- Pride in workmanship and attention to detail
- Willingness to assist other departments when needed
Working hours: Full-time. May include weekends, evenings, or on-call cover.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Health & Safety or maintenance qualifications
- Previous hotel or hospitality experience
- Basic fire safety or first aid training
