Production Operative - Grade 3 (Evening Shift)

Location: Toome

Hours: Monday – Thursday 4.00pm – 2:00am (4-day work week)

Reports to: Maintenance and Masa Supervisor

Hourly Rate: £13.69, plus shift allowance

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Operating production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Supporting dry side operations and completing mould changes.
• Identifying and reporting faults quickly.
• Keeping machines and work areas clean.
• Operating a forklift (if licensed).
• Helping with general tasks like quality checks, strapping, and wrapping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gain operational knowledge and be proficient in operation of the dry side area.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to continuously improve dry side operations.
• Carry out mould changes on brick and paving production equipment.
• Accurately set up, secure, and align moulds to guarantee product quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve any issues during mould changeover.
• Address faults as they arise, escalating significant issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Perform regular cleaning of equipment and machinery.
• Operate forklifts as required, provided the appropriate license is held.
• Ensure that workplace cleanliness is maintained and adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols.
• Take personal responsibility for your own well-being and promptly report any concerns.
• Proactively seek and suggest ideas for improvement.
• Any other duties as required by management that are within your capability.

Required Criteria:

• Medically fit to undertake the physical requirements of the job.
• Previous experience as a machine operator.
• Previous experience working in a busy production environment.
• Ability to meet production targets.
• Adherence and appreciation for H&S and general housekeeping standards.
• High level of verbal/written English.
• Ability to work quickly to meet production deadlines.
• Experience of effective communication to team members.
• Good observational skills to spot defective products.
• Patience to carry out repetitive tasks.
• Available to respond to production problems outside normal hours.
• Flexible approach to work required, willingness to retrain and learn new skills.
