Maintenance Technician

Crystal Care Solutions is seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team and help keep our services safe, functional, and welcoming for the children and young people we support.

Would you like to join our new facilities / maintenance team to support our Residential Children's Homes across the North Midlands, North West and North Wales region.

Working as part of this small team you will be provided with a van and tools to ensure our homes always meet the high standards, to provide warm, safe and homely places for our children and young people to live an thrive.

Reporting to the Estates Manager and maintaining good communication with our Registered Managers and Senior Leadership Teams as required, you will provide a variety of facilities maintenance tasks, providing the general upkeep of the Crystal Care Solutions homes and properties, both internal and external (ensuring external grounds are kept clean and tidy).

About the role

The role includes undertake general maintenance task such as:

  • Installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building, fixtures and fittings.
  • General plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, basic carpentry such as new locks, architrave, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware.
  • General tiling - floors and walls and general painting & decorating
  • Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and Health and Safety
  • Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements
  • Carry out tasks within agreed time limits
  • Ensure compliance to agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including Health and Safety
  • Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work
  • Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the Company and/or young people/individuals to your Line Manager
  • Meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole
  • Team work - Contribute towards the smooth running of the team
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and duties as and when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience of completing maintenance to deadlines
  • Ability to use Smartphone
  • Literate in using a computer/sending emails
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable Requirements

  • Qualifications in, Plumbing, and or Joinery
  • Experience of maintenance within Children’s Homes/Nurseries/Schools/other Regulated Settings

Required Criteria

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Operative or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Hold a valid UK driving license.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks, both internal and external.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for children and young people.
  • Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check.

Desired Criteria

  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Experience working within a residential or care home setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to property maintenance.
