Purpose of Position

To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

Requirements

• UK Driving License (and car for driving between service users' properties).
• Friendly, caring, and positive attitude.
• Applicant must be available from 07:00 on mornings to work.
• Work pattern will include Morning/Lunch/Evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assisting service users with all personal care needs including, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs, as well as supporting with their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
• Assisting service users with mobility problems, mild learning difficulties and other physical disabilities, including promoting independent continence, and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
• To ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.
• To provide care for people who are dying or have progressive illnesses (end of life care).
• To engage in the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing.
• To read and write reports and take part in staff and service users' meetings and in training activities as directed.
• When professionally trained, administer medications.
• To comply with the organisation's policies and procedures at all times, which includes the service users' care plan, medication needs and the completion of accurate daily records.
• To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
• To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
• All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.
• Identify and support appropriately service users with the capacity and those who lack capacity.
• Understand the requirement of the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9 - 20, in relation to the Care Quality Commission Inspect regime.
• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
