As a Bar Tender, you will deliver a great experience. You will prepare beverages and/or serve food in a timely manner, prioritising people first by creating memorable experiences for our guests. This role requires expertise in beverage preparation and service, ensuring quality and consistency. You will maintain integrity by adhering to all service standards and procedures. You will also contribute to a seamless guest experience by working collaboratively with your team, demonstrating partnership will be responsible for serving and ensuring the well-being of our guests within the Bar and Restaurant, demonstrating a strong people-first approach to service.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:

Greet guests pleasantly as they approach the bar, promote house drinks and use upselling skills to increase revenue, creating a warm, people-first environment.

Ensure you provide a top-tier customer service experience that stands out from our competitors, delivering a memorable, people-first experience.

Prepare beverages requested by guests using established pouring standards and drink recipes to provide a consistent product to the guests and to control costs, demonstrating your expertise in beverage preparation.

Coordinate food service with Restaurant(s) for bar/lounge guests if applicable, fostering a seamless partnership with other departments.

Monitor guest behaviour and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests; check identification whenever the age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is questionable, ensuring responsible service and upholding integrity.

Follow established hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times. Immediately report any safety/service incidents to the Supervisor or Manager on duty, maintaining a safe environment and adhering to Integrity.

Take action to solve guest problems/complaints using appropriate service recovery guidelines, demonstrating a people-first approach to problem-solving.

Set up the bar, including all liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware and supplies, demonstrating your operational expertise.

Perform pre- and post-shift work (empty/fill ice bins, prepare garnishes, replenish/store snacks, etc.), ensuring operational expertise and efficiency.

Check all necessary supplies in line with hotel procedures and manage liquor inventory, maintaining stock control and demonstrating expertise and integrity.

Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift, upholding Integrity and responsible asset management.

Obtain, count and secure the bartender’s bank; receive cash and credit payments from customers; give accurate change and balance the cash drawer at the end of shift in line with hotel procedures, maintaining financial Integrity and accuracy.

Any other reasonable tasks as delegated by your Line Manager, demonstrating a collaborative Partnership and flexibility.

Required Criteria
- Previous experience working in a bar or hospitality environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly, professional and welcoming manner.
- Confident preparing and serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Good knowledge of bar service, including responsible service of alcohol and age-verification requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy bar environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with guests and colleagues.
- Excellent teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues across the wider operation.
- High standards of personal presentation, cleanliness and hygiene.
- Good attention to detail, particularly when taking orders, handling payments and maintaining stock.
- Ability to handle cash and card payments accurately and use a till/POS system.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and public holidays, as required.
Desired Criteria
- Previous experience working in a 4-star hotel, high-end restaurant, cocktail bar or similar premium hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and premium beverages.
- Experience creating and serving cocktails and speciality drinks.
- Knowledge of wine service, including basic understanding of grape varieties and food pairing.
- Experience working during busy events, functions or high-volume service periods.
- Previous experience in a hotel environment, including working closely with Restaurant, Events and Reception teams.
