We're partnering with a South London-founded recruitment business working with some of the world's most exciting startups and scale-ups. With a strong reputation across their markets, they are known for delivering high-quality work while genuinely caring about our people, their network, and the communities they build. Their focus is on Software Engineering, Data, and ML, and as they continue to scale, they are doing so with a clear focus on quality over volume.
Why This Role Matters
This is a pivotal hire. As their first People & Talent Lead, you will take ownership of internal hiring while building and shaping our people function from the ground up. This role requires someone who understands what great looks like in recruitment and can translate that into consistently high-performing hires. You'll work closely with the Founder to ensure our culture, structure, and performance frameworks support our next stage of growth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own Internal Hiring
- Lead end-to-end hiring across the business, from entry-level consultants to experienced hires
- Partner with leadership to define hiring needs and build clear, structured hiring plans
- Drive direct sourcing strategies to attract high-quality recruitment talent
- Continuously refine hiring processes to improve quality, consistency, and candidate experience
Build & Scale the People Function
- Design and implement career progression frameworks
- Performance management processes
- 360 feedback structures
- Support the evolution of our vision, purpose, and values
- Build scalable people processes aligned to business growth
Drive Culture, Community & Engagement
- Own quarterly company events and annual offsite
- Support consultants running meet-ups and community events
- Help create an engaging, high-performing London office environment
- Strengthen internal culture while connecting it to business performance
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience hiring within a recruitment or staffing business (essential)
- Strong understanding of what drives success in recruitment consultants
- Experience working in a high-growth or scaling environment
- Comfortable operating as a standalone People Lead
- High levels of autonomy, ownership, and self-motivation
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Passion for building culture, developing people, and driving performance
