ERM is looking for a motivated Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting Associate to join our Site Investigation and Remediation team in the UK. Working under the direction of program managers and partners, the successful candidate will work on site investigation and remediation projects throughout the region, with increasing responsibility for task and project management duties. The role is largely field‑based, requiring frequent travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of contractors and routine monitoring during site investigations.
  • Regular field work, including walkovers, soil and groundwater sampling, and supervising contractors on site.
  • Office support such as data analysis, manipulation, and reporting.
  • Production of environmental desk studies, site investigation, and verification reports.
  • Assist in fee proposal preparation for future work.
  • Training to develop project management skills, including financial management, for small to medium‑sized projects.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel for field work and spend most of the time away from home.
  • Previous experience supporting investigation, risk assessment, or environmental assessment work with exposure to fieldwork supervision in an environmental or water consultancy.
  • Experience working on active industrial sites with advanced safety cultures or in remote locations.
  • Degree qualification in environmental sciences, hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or chemistry preferred, but considered candidates with relevant work experience may also apply.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
